    Welcome to Hoofprints Across Canada

    A Virtual 160.8km (100 mile) in 100 days challenge

How it works. Starting on May 15, 2026.  Each time you ride, lead or drive (not trailer!) your horse track both the time and the distance.  There are many free apps that are easy to use and will do this for you. If you are having trouble finding one feel free to ask us for help or ask in the Hoofprints Across Canada Facebook Group.  After your ride, go to the HoofprintsAcrossCanada.com click on report your ride.  Fill in the details of your ride.  To check your progress, click on your bib number to go to your individual results page (please note it may take 24 to 48 hours to be updated with your results). There are 16 check points at 10km increments along the virtual trail.  When you hit these check points, we will send you a virtual badge and update where you are in Canada on your virtual trip from Newfoundland to British Columbia.  You will have until midnight on the closing day to report your rides.  The goal is to achieve 160.8km (100 miles) in 100 days. Upon completion you will be sent a certificate to acknowledge you and your horse’s achievement.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I ride more than 1.6km (1 mile per day)?

Yes, you can ride whatever distance you wish on whatever days you wish.

What if I finish the 160.8km (100 miles) before the 100 days?

Congratulations, you can stop and get your certificate or you can choose to keep going and see how many kilometers you can do in 100 days.

Can I switch horses, or have someone else ride my horse sometimes?

You are entered as a team. One person and one horse. Only distances that you do together will be counted.

Can I enter with more than one horse?

Yes, you can enter more than one team.  Each will be given a separate bib number and tallied separately.

What if I cannot make it the full 160.8km (100 miles)?

Go as far as you safely can, but if you cannot make it the full distance do your best and be proud of your effort.  If you need additional support, try the Hoofprints Across Canada Facebook group.

Do I have to ride out on trails or roads?

Where you ride is 100% up to you.  You could do all of your distances in an arena, or on the trail or a combination of either.

Do I have to ride my horse?

No, but you have to travel with your horse.  You can lead your horse or drive your horse in harness.  These are great options for very young horses, older horses or miniature horses.

    Can mules take part?

    Yes!

Are there prizes for the fastest 160.8 km, the first to get to 160.8km, or the team with the highest mileage at the end of the 100 days?

The challenge is to complete 160.8km (100 miles) in 100 days. Everyone that completes the challenge receives a certificate.  It is you and your horse vs the virtual trail, not other teams.  We encourage everyone to support one another on their quests.

Can I claim distances I rode before April 15th 2026?

The challenge starts on May 15, 2026.  Only distances after midnight on May 14th, 2025 will be counted.

If I register late, can I claim rides I did before registering?

Only rides that occur after registering and after the start date will be counted.
